The Process
A standard GP specialist referral is all that's required. GP referrals are valid for 12 months; specialist-to-specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Our secretary will triage your referral and contact the patient directly to arrange an appointment at the most suitable location.
Please clearly mark URGENT on the referral and call the rooms on 02 8859 6689 to flag the case. Urgent referrals are triaged within 48 hours.
Referral Checklist
A complete referral helps us triage accurately and means fewer follow-up calls for your staff.
Full name, DOB, Medicare number, phone, address.
Presenting symptoms, duration, clinical question.
Past medical history, prior GI investigations or procedures.
Current medication list, known allergies and sensitivities.
Pathology, imaging, endoscopy reports relevant to the referral.
Urgent, semi-urgent, or routine — please specify.
Scope of Practice
Dr Choi welcomes referrals across the full scope of adult gastroenterology and hepatology, with particular sub-specialty interest in inflammatory bowel disease.
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis — from new diagnosis through long-term medical management, including biologics and advanced therapies. Dr Choi's PhD research focused on IBD, and he maintains an active clinical and academic interest in the field.
Reflux, dyspepsia, IBS, coeliac disease, iron deficiency, constipation, diverticular disease, and other common GI presentations.
Gastroscopy, colonoscopy (including polypectomy), and bowel cancer screening and surveillance.
Fatty liver disease, abnormal LFTs, viral hepatitis, and other liver-related presentations.
